Lakes and Fishing

Six major area lakes surround Coleman, providing ample opportunities for recreational fishing and boating. Lake Coleman, Ivie Reservoir, Lake Scarborough, Memory Lake, Lake Santa Anna, and Hord’s Creek offer scenic views and a wealth of freshwater fish.

Lake Coleman is located On Jim Ned Creek in Coleman County. It serves as the city’s main source of municipal water. It covers 2,000 acres with a maximum depth of 48 feet, and is home to schools of largemouth bass, hybrid striped bass, Florida bass, white crappie, sunfish, and flathead catfish. Lake Coleman also offers beautiful waterfront living and recreation.

Ivie Reservoir is located in Coleman County, and covers more than 19,000 acres with a maximum depth of 119 feet. Its beautiful landscape of aquatic plants and standing timber is the backdrop for several species of catfish, white bass, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, sunfish, and white crappie.

Lake Scarborough is a 2,000-acre lake on Indian Creek. It is a fishing only lake.

Memory Lake’s emerald green waters boast a 100% publicly accessible shoreline, making it a great spot for fishing. It has plentiful populations of bluegill and redear sunfish.

Hord’s Creek is a recreational haven surrounded by oak trees and parks. The water is brimming with largemouth bass, crappie, channel catfish, blue catfish, flathead catfish, and bluegill. With campsites and picnic areas as well as the opportunity for boating and water sports, there’s something for everyone at Horde’s Creek.
